A message from Bishop Megan Traquair
about the Park Fire
|
|
Dear Friends in Christ,
The Office of the Bishop, Missioner for Disaster Resilience, and Deans are meeting regularly to share current information on the Park Fire. As of this writing, the fire is over 350,000 acres with no containment.
As your churches gather to worship, please share the following information:
- Pray for the victims, firefighters and communities impacted by the fire
- Give to support both immediate and long-term disaster recovery efforts
- 100% of all donations go to disaster relief
- We've established three Resource Hubs to provide immediate assistance at St. John's, Chico, St. Peter's, Red Bluff, and All Saints', Redding.
- Resource Hubs provide immediate assistance, pastoral care and help accessing other resources (these are not overnight shelters)
- We will deploy long-term assistance, such as Project (Re)Start bins as fire Recovery begins
- Encourage folks to download and support Watch Duty and keep current on fire status
Yours in Christ,

A Prayer for Those in the Path of Fire
Almighty God, who is our strength and our refuge; be with those who are besieged by fire, guide those who evacuate so that they may find care and comfort in a safe place; protect their homes and their pets, their neighbors and their friends, so that they may return home to a loving community. We ask this in the name of Jesus your son, who abides with you and with the Holy Spirit.
